Here in SE Melbourne, yet another Brown Songlark - a male - recorded yesterday and another lbj (little brown job) today which may have been a Brown Songlark, White-winged Triller or Rufous Songlark. Several Sacred Kingfisher and two Rufous Whistler records (suggesting another good year after absences in 1996 and 1997). Still waiting for the Satin Flycatchers and, even later, Rufous Fantails. The Superb Fairy-wrens are surviving at most local sites with birds seen carrying petals and nesting material. What a lovely flagship! Michael Norris Hampton, Vic.
