Lawrie's hit the nail on the head, of course. But this whole business
starts me thinking of something I've experienced a couple of times, namely
disapproving looks occasionally received when one makes a joke about birds
or birding. Why do some people take things so seriously? Surely it's
possible for intelligent people to be both lighthearted & serious
simultaneously. What's wrong with a bit of humour or drivel? I know that a
number of people who contributed the so called drivel over the past few
days also contribute in many real ways to birding, ornithology and/or
conservation. And there's always the delete button...............
