Well, I've got my copy now and I agree with the opinion expressed last week
that it represents the best all-round field guide (though I think Day is
still the best bird artist).
I guess that there will be a sort of sport of picking up errors in the
guide, and not mentioning the 99.9999999999999% of facts in it that are
correct, but I must just point out that, following Slater (or did Slater
follow Pizzey's 1st ed?), Pizzey and Kinight have the eye colour of the
White-fronted Chat the wrong way round?it's red in the male, yellow in the
female.
Oh, and he doesn't note the 2 sub-species of the Yellow-Tailed Black
Cockatoo (which are on Sibley and Ahlquist's Incipient Species list as due
for splitting).
Apart from that I'm lost in admiration, and dsire to set off immediately to
see all the species I haven't seen yet.
