[ts-7000] Can't boot 7250 to Debian over NFS

Subject: [ts-7000] Can't boot 7250 to Debian over NFS

I can't boot a 7250 to Debian Sarge over NFS. I've read the "Linux for ARM on
TS-72XX User's Guide" and _think_ I've followed all the steps, but the 7250
just hangs before I see even the first indication that the kernel is loading.

After the Redboot messages, the 7250 hangs after "Using base address 0x00218000
and length 0x00¤JÊÌ"

I put together a Web page describing how I set up NFS, and the Redboot session
that should, but doesn't, boot into Debian. Please see
<http://mdodd.com/files/redboot.html>

I believe I've set up the NFS host correctly:

* Downloaded and untarred debian-sarge-256MB-05-01-2006.tar.bz2 to
/ts5250-debian on the Linux host
* Edited /etc/exports on the Linux host(I can mount and use this share on
another Linux bost)
* Edited /ts5250-debian/etc/fstab in the on the Linux host to specify an NFS
root path for Debian on the 7250
* Configured Redboot to boot into NFS with:
fis load vmlinux
exec -c "console=ttyAM1,115200 ip=dhcp nfsroot=192.168.1.20:/ts7250-debian"

This same 7250 boots into TS-Linux and works on the network if I change the
Redboot configuration to "root=/dev/mtdblock1".

Will someone please have a look at my details on
<http://mdodd.com/files/redboot.html> and tell me if you see anything I'm doing
wrong?

Thanks very much.

--- Mike
