I won't be booting the TS with an NFS mount, at least not once it's in service.
It has to be able to boot and run when nothing else on the network is up. NFS
might be a nice convenience for moving files around, but I'd planned on putting
up with FTP for that.
The suggestions are getting complex. The TS-7250 ships with Linux 2.4, not 2.6.
I definitely don't want to do the work to get a different kernel up and
running; if the vendor hasn't done it, with their presumed expertise, I
certainly don't want the job.
I think I've talked myself into moving up to the TS-7800. It's more money than
I Like and more machine than I need, but it comes with Linux 2.6 and TS will
provide Eclipse, and Eclipse can presumably be run on a windows system as well
as anything else.
