I'm curious why you're thinking about the ts72xx. I get the impression that the
Beagle Board is more powerful and still in this price range. (I use a ts7250 as
I was gifted one.)
I've proposed before on this list that you set up a virtual linux box and do
your development on that with a cross-compiler. You can run Eclipse under
Linux, and use X11 on your Windows box to see the GUI. There is no need for
another PC. I've heard that Virtual Box is pretty good, though I use VMWare.
You can boot the ts7250/7260 and doubtlessly the others over NFS - roughly, you
can ignore the flash during development and copy a filesystem over to it when
you're happy that it works.
I would strongly recommend having access to a decent RS232 port. The USB cable
I have is adequate for using the console but inadequate for serial blaster
(recovery from trashing the boot loader). I believe there are some USB cables
that are up to the task.
Hope this helps.
cheers
