I think it is easier to use a Linux machine of some kind so you can easily run
the ts72xx from NFS - there tend to be a lot of filesystem issues, e.g. device
files and permissions, that can be avoided that way. There are many ways to set
it up.
A lot of your questions will be answered if you trawl through the archive of
this group.
In particular I posted a patch (a clean up of someone else's work) that enables
the high-resolution timers on the ep93xx. You do not need the RT patch (which
is for deterministic latency) if all you want is sub-10ms sleeps.
If you do want hard-real time, I've had some success with Linux 2.6.33.2,
ynezz's patches and the latest RT patch.
