Yes I use that functionality on the 7200 as well, makes kernel updating
soo much easier :) I'm also not sure about newer boards that don't use
redboot as I also have only used the 7200. I'm fairly certain tho that
the 73xx, 7400, 7500 and 7800's don't use reboot.
