I had come across the ttyAM.. ports before, but of course did not 
realize that ttyAM1 = COM1
So I got some communication here going :-) (my printer head moved).

I have to check into ttyAM2 and see why this did not work. It looked 
like an interrupt conflict but I did not have time to check it out 
further. dmesg was a good point I will study the output more closely.

And what did you mean with expansion connector/rs232 driver chips 
(ttyS2/3)?
