TS manual states:


The root file system used by the Linux OS can be any of the following:
&#10004; JFFS/YAFFS file system image in the on-board Flash (if using 
RedBoot, it should
include the option root=/dev/mtdblock1 to instruct the kernel to boot 
here)
&#10004; EXT2 file system image in the Compact Flash card (if using 
RedBoot, it should include
the option root=/dev/hda)
&#10004; NFS root, via Ethernet port (if using RedBoot, it should include 
the option root=/dev/nfs
nfsroot=<IP>:<DIRECTORY> ip=dhcp)
