I normally use NFS root for development without problem but this message
(not responding, still trying) I got sometimes too. But when I wait 
moment  it disappears and all works. I see that NFS root is mounted 
executed scripts but NFS servers probably dies :-).

A use vanilla 2.6.23-rc1 and apply patches found at arm.mydate.cz.
