Oops. That's not necessary if it's using udev, which is very likely;
it copies the static /dev into a ramdisk (tmpfs) at boot time and
udevd then creates that node for you.

Also I forgot to mention to edit /etc/securetty and s/ttyS0/ttyAM0/
to enable root logins on the non-standard serial port.
