The 7300 boots directly from one of the SD slots, and does not have onboard flash. It boots debian by default which is a lot more complete than TS-Linux, and you can even compile programs directly on the box. The 7300 also has a VGA (640x480) connecter (implemented in the FPGA!), and by default comes up as a text terminal. If you hook up a usb keyboard, can use it as a terminal. The 7300 coms standard with 6 onboard serial ports, and TWO TS-XDIO, and a whole bunch of discrete I/O. The programming is really no different. You can use a cross compiler as well with the TS-7300. The TS-7300 comes with TWO ethernet ports.

I will warn you that the TS-XDIO on the 7300 is connected directly to the FPGA pins, so you will need to put your own signal conditioning.

But, the FPGA opens up lots of future possibilities. You can pay TS to do custom implementations. They quoted me 8 high speed counters for instance. I imagine you will see them offering more standard programming options for the FPGA as time goes on, all without ANY hardware changes. I think you can do servo motor control or step motor control with FPGAs, but not sure. If anybody else knows, please jump in. There are potentially many uses for the FPGA, but you somebody has to program it.

Hi,
I was looking for TS-7300 board and for only 40$ more then TS-7260 it
would be a better choose.

The fact that TS-XDIO does not exclude SD card reader is a great thing.

The only dubt I have is about FPGA.
What does its presence mean? Are there any difference in programming
the board?

Thanx

Walter
