You can grab a part and break it into elements,
season to taste, and save it as a modified version.

Unlike other areas where opensource rivals/exceeds
its commercial counterparts, EDA remains as one area
where sufficient mass of opensource developers has
yet to collect. IOW it is still possible for a
commercial venture to amass sufficient development
resources to ace out open projects.
Of course this does create the invitation to help
reverse the situation.
