Ok, but anyone can modify the driver in the kernel and submit a cleanup of
the driver. Two weeks ago, i've resync my driver with the kernel driver.
*RomTable can be removed if the decompressor is not in the kernel.

As the pwc driver in the kernel doesn't support v4l2, it can't support
compressed stream.

yes but only 320x240 and some framerates.

If the decompressor is not in the kernel. You need to change every
application. It takes already a lot of times to add some new codec to ekiga,
that chaging mplayer, xawtv, amsn (because someone want to have a better
support ....), ...
I would prefer to send a patch to the kernel with the decompressor and with
the RAW stream export, and when v4l1 will be removed from the kernel, i'll
remove the decompressor from the driver.
