Maybe v4l should do something like alsa and provide an userspace library that will hide the hardware specific stuff. For example I know there is alsa plugin that emulate mixer for hardware that miss it.


How does Motion support SN9C10x ?

From what I saw sn9c102 driver only export privates formats V4L2_PIX_FMT_SN9C10X and V4L2_PIX_FMT_SBGGR8.
