Well said, John. I particularly like your existential shift from "I am list=
ening to that" to "I belong to that; I am that.=94 Way cool and an excellen=
t reminder of who we are at a time when we most need it.

Of course, we could justify that the whole study of soundscape ecology is s=
o new as to be arbitrary with vastly different and often contradictory appr=
oaches being considered, peer reviewed, and published=85all claiming some m=
easure of validity and all, taken together, probably containing some germ o=
f a collective truth or truths yet to be determined or revealed.

I brought up the issue of =93baseline=94 not so much as a concrete static b=
eginning metric (since there are so many different recording paradigms that=
would generate dissimilar outcomes), but rather, because it is a current s=
ubject for discussion between academics as a point to consider. For example=
, the effect(s) of global heating as they shape density, diversity and ric=
hness of biophonies that are changing so rapidly. There=92s obviously much =
more to this subject. Just a nascent thought, though.

Happy holidays everyone!
Bernie
