Thanks for your comments, Jim. I have added the link to the file in question. Note after the first burst of the call the song begins to fade, even though the bird is not much further out. It is more a matter that the microphone is in its original position and the phoebe becomes more off axis in relation to it. (I have an ulterior motive in my questions; to upgrade a shotgun microphone to the 416,and sell off the ME67 and ME66.
