Five pin XLR is the professional standard for running 2 channels through a =
single connector, with a multipair cable. Wired properly you get 2 balanced=
outputs, which would be on 3 pin XLR connectors, at the recorder end. Sinc=
e you have an AT 825, use its cable to check out the Sony.
To ascertain that you=92re getting stereo out, try scratching the left side=
screen while listening on phones, then the right side screen. If it doesn=
=92t really move dramatically from ear to ear, your cable is wired incorrec=
tly.
