The dashed lines would appear to indicate that the circuit is wired unbalan=
ced, by tying the =91cold=92 pins to ground. This would only make sense if =
the mic was to be plugged into unbalanced (2 pole) mic inputs. But the phot=
o shows the connector apparently wired correctly, although we don=92t see w=
hat=92s on the other end. The ground tab would not have any effect on handl=
ing noise, & need not be connected.
