Charles, I have been intrigued by the Clippy EM172 mics and I bought them. I noticed= that the capsules are inserted deep into the microphone holder about 3 mm.= In practice, although it is an omnidirectional capsule, inserted in this w= ay I found that with the song of some insects Orthoptera (4 to 14 khz), the= EM 172 becomes quite directional. But this may be obvious, as I adopt this= technique to search a sinning high frequencies insect turn=F0ing my head l= ike a dog when it locates its prey! So, the lack of a front sound stage, with the capsules placed in a dummy he= ad and 3 mm inserted in their mic holder, may partly be the reason. Or at least I ask the experts about this my assertion... Marco Pesente |
