Raimund,
My argument is that it is not the ears alone, but the ears at the last call
which make the value judgement on a recording. Everything else can be a
#'guide on the way, and specs have their use, with caution, but thE
original question was whether to put the gain in a preamp or at the recorder
and listening will give the answer, not theory. :-)
