I'm not sure where you have got to so far, but at one stage it was a single=
gunmic. Did this sound OK after the volume was raised, or was it still
hissy?
If it was OK, borrow another mic, even if it is a different type and
experiment. You will get at least some stereo effect. If you can lay your
hands on another similar gunmic, see what you get with the two at about 30=
degrees apart.
Two gunmics for stereo doesn't seem to have the approval of many recordists=
,

One of these tests used mics costing over $1000 equivalent second hand, and=
the other had mics costing $30 in a cardboard box.

I think at $30 directly into a "toy" Tascam DR-1 and a cut down box, it's
not quite as good as the $1000+ rig, but is that $970+ better?
