Hello,I have started out with a H4N recorder and have found the built in mi=
cs disappointing. =C2=A0I have been reading through posts re newbies buying=
microphones and get the idea that it depends on budget and what you want t=
o record. =C2=A0Ideally, I would like to spend no more than $200 (and am op=
en to second hand deals) - could go to $300, if all the wind fluffies and s=
hock mounts were included. =C2=A0I am not really sure what I want to record=
, just want to give it a go. =C2=A0So....a few questions. =C2=A0I am thinki=
ng of going down the video mic road, has anyone tried any of these? =C2=A0I=
am thinking a small shotgun rather than omni as I figure a small stereo se=
t up would possibly be similar to the x/y on my recorder ? =C2=A0Also, if I=
did get an omni, would it work ok if I was on top of a noise producing cre=
ature (thinking katydids, zooming in on individual while capturing surround=
ing ambience?). =C2=A0Thanks,TJ
