Thanks for the replies. I am happy I joined.
I was concerned about the =
pre's on the tascam, but it does seem pretty good. I see there is a M/S fir=
mware update.
@David, I like your style. I Love SQN pre's and enjoyed =
your recordings.
@Hakan - I was thinking about the mixer because I have=
had my fill of "1 button toggles knobs" Or "multi function controls" over =
the years. I Absolutely like things to by fast and discreet to access, as w=
ell as easily (fast) viewable to my older eyes. But then again, I am on a b=
udget, so maybe I should get off my high horse and just start with the 680.=

Ok - Mics: I know its a hard ask, I do want to be as flexible as =
I can. I also very much like M/S, however I don't think I can go for the mk=
h "40/30" type setup simply because of cost. I haven't budgeted yet, becaus=
e I don't know what to get or what there is out there.

M/S with th=
e mid being nice and focal. T power does not bother me, but the size
of the reallllly looong sennhiesers could be a problem.
Are there any=
options that I should look at to achieve good M/S setup with reasonable li=
ttle self noise? (Yes I know...)

I want to stay away from getting =
a single monoaural mic only to start, because I am not sure when I could af=
ford to buy a second mic. as unfortunately I am unable to work a.t.m. So it=
s a bit all or nothing at present. (The best way!) :)

Finally, par=
abola link =3D great.
