> Any feedback appreciated! Anders, I check mic hiss by putting it under a pile of bedclothes and recording with various input combinations. You will probably have a fairly constant low frequency house noise which can give you a reference level. Judge the hiss by ear. If you have a sound editor (I use Audacity) you can display the power spectrum as well. It's not an absolute method but it give an easy way of comparing different input configurations.
