Hi Anders,
I sometimes use my Mixpre-D with a Sony PCM M-10 & a pair of DPA 4060's wit=
h a battery box.
I connect the mics and battery box to the Mixpre's XLR inputs (set to mic l=
evel) using a 3.5mm to dual XLR cable and connect the Mixpre to the M10 usi=
ng a dual XLR to 3.5mm cable with the Mixpre's XLR outputs set to line leve=
l and plugged into the M10's line in.
I calibrate the M10 to -20 using the oscillator tone with sensitivity set t=
o low- (around 3.5-4 rec level).
I find this is much cleaner than using just the M10.
I don't know much tech stuff but spent a time researching and some trial an=
d error and find this set up works well for me.
I hope it helps.
Kind Regards,
Tony

In these circumstances the hiss from the Mixpre comes apparent when dialed=
