< Now wait a minute. This just goes to show how rapidly the technology has
changed and how quickly we forget. I bought my first and only Hi-MD recorder
(MZRH1) new in 2007. That was less than six years ago, not a decade. >

In the late 90's I went through probably a half dozen consumer, semi-pro, &
professional MD decks as the playback medium for a well known touring music
group. None of them could stand up to the rigors of hard traveling. When the
last of them failed just prior to a major arts festival performance in Vienna I
took the plunge to computer based hard disk playback in Abelton Live software &
haven't looked back since. MD was a transitional technology of very short
duration & limited consumer acceptance.
