That would be nice, but unfortunately I can't buy every piece of equipment =
that might be of use in order to test it. It helps me to understand the num=
bers so I can at least make a semi-educated determination as to whether a p=
articular product is going to be worth the cost.
With a microphone going into a preamp going into a preamp it looks to me li=
ke one wants to know the EIN of the first preamp in order to make sure it i=
s a good match for the microphone. The EIN of the second preamp (recorder) =
doesn't matter so much because the output noise of the first preamp will li=
kely be way higher (depending on how much gain is applied) than the EIN of =
the second preamp.
