I have no idea which type of braided screening (aluminium or copper)
works best as I have never encountered cable with aluminium braided
screening. Its lack of popularity in the past may perhaps be explained
by a greater likelihood of fatiguing when repeatedly flexed.
However the clincher for me in deciding which type of cable to use would
be the difficulty of attaching aluminium braiding to the XLR plugs.
Soldering aluminium is somewhat more difficult than soldering copper.
