A Windows tablet sounds worth waiting for. Is it even possible to upload fi=
les directly from a recorder to an iPad?=0D

What problems do apps like Audacity have on a tablet? Is it just that all t=
he buttons are too small for our fat fingers?=0D

I think we can expect a number of new Windows-based tablet PCs (in size sim=
ilar to the iPad) once Windows 8 has been launched this fall.=0D

These tablets will run any Windows application, including Audacity. Most of=
the conventional Windows applications are however not suited very well for=
touch screen operation. The free Avisoft-SASLab Lite (and Pro) software (h=
ttp://www.avisoft.com/downloads.htm) alreay provides a number of optimizati=
ons for touch screen operation.=0D

Such Windows 8 tablets should also be able to operate BUS-powered USB audio=
interfaces directly without additional external power supplies.=0D
