True, but for under $250 you can also have a PCM-M10, which lasts for
20+ hours recording uncompressed PCM (personally verified) on a pair
of AA's, doesn't have cables or a big screen, and fits in your
pocket...

No XLR/phantom, true, but a lot less finicky IMHO hahahaha...

Still, it's cool that's being done. One can imagine software that does
advanced things  (at the expense of battery life) like spectrography,
of course.
