Hi,

I=92m a new member of this group and would like to introduce myself. In the
early 70=92s I begun to record nature sounds especially bird calls and song=
s
here in Sweden. My first recorder was a Philips cassette player, but soon I
invested in an Uher Reporter 4400 that I used for many years. After a short
break I purchased Sony TCD-D7 and Telinga Pro IV Stereo Parabolic microphon=
e
and I have used that combo for almost 20 years. After some struggle with
DAT-tapes I purchased Sony PCM-D50, but the recorder died in February this
year and it was not repairable. It just did not start/boot at all and the
warranty has just expired.

Today I ordered a new Telinga Pro8 microphone with XLR and 48V Phantom Powe=
r
and have decided to buy a Recorder with XLR. Are there anyone in this group
who could recommend a good Recorder and I would like to have one with a
really good pre-amp to reduce noise to a minimum. Also I prefer good
ergonomic handling and not plastic and fragile. I=92m open for any suggesti=
on
and I have looked at Zoom 4Hn, Fostex FR-2LE, Marantz PMD661/PMD671 to the
more expensive SoundDevices 702 and Nagra LB.

Best regards,

Ulf Widen
