Hi Ulf, I've had good success with the Marantz PMD 661. It's medium size and has a= robust build, pre-amps are above average and has tolerated travel and wet = conditions. The Sound Devices recorders are the standard of coarse , are larger and a= bout 3 X the money and the logical choice if you plan to record a lot and u= nder harsh conditions.
