hello, I've just bought an M10. The outdoor stereo image of the inbuilt omn=
is is very unimpressive. On the other hand, I stood the recorder up in fron=
t of me in an acustically treated recording room and played a bit of acusti=
c guitar into it and those mics are really sweet for that sort of thing.

Another thing I've noticed with it is that one stereo mic I'd written off a=
s being too noisy for nature recording actually turns in a very acceptable =
result now I've tried it again with the PCM-M10 ( I was using it with a min=
idisc recorder before ). I only have a crude understaning of impedance matc=
hing but it's likely that something has changed from the minidisc to the m1=

The PCM-M10 is a great little tool as long as all the inputs and outputs ho=
ld up to the milage they are going to get from me. The OS could have been a=
bit more ambitious than it is though. I can think of several handy things =
they could have written into the firmware but didn't. I wonder if the firmw=
are is update-able?

Has anyone got any knowledge of any 'hidden' features for it? Sony had plen=
ty of hidden features in the minidisk range and I'll bet there's a few with=
 this one too.

PCM-D50?..... sorry, I have no experience with it at all.

all the best,
norman.

I can get one for around $300, but could likely find an M10 for $50 or so l=
ess then that...so is it worth the extra $50? =C2=A0 I see on the Avisoft l=
ist that it may have slightly better noise floor, but at the same time, I h=
ear the external mics(which I will use a bit) are actually better on the m1=
0? =C2=A0 Just hoping for real world opinions! =C2=A0
