Martyn, Excellent piece but what happened to para 8: ? Can I suggest my Golden Rule for any recording, which is to get the mic in the right place at the right time. :-) It's the first thing I taught any trainee and sums up most of the tricks of the trade, including sitting in the cold and wet for the right time.
