Thanks to everyone for your very helpful responses. I think I need to put all of the suggestions into practice now and start editing! Thanks especially to Vicki and Paul who gave me some nice examples of how to equalize my sample track. I'll post some more samples on Soundcloud as soon as I have something I'm happy with.
