Thanks so much for that link Donald!  I read the relevant posts on
gearslutz, your noise sample sounds the same as mine.

This is what my noise sounds like:

Obviously the problem extends further than the 8060s and 8070s, if it
also affects my 8020s.

I am using Sound Devices 702 recorder, in dry and calm conditions, so
not a wind problem Scott, but thanks for your response.

Mike, I am going to try a different recorder in a few days, just to
verify it is not the recorder.  Then I will return the mics yet again.

The Sennheiser people in Sydney told me there were 'no known issues'
with these mics, obviously they were poorly informed.

I emailed Sennheiser in Germany about my first noisy set of mics, a
month ago, and sent them a sound sample, but I never had a reply.
