I found some reviews with "writing quality" like

You might have to look deeper to find those tests on older models.
To me, when I look at even the looser review results,. its clear one
should not assume a burner is good.
On your new drive-- maybe before you crank out 200 discs, do the
compatibility testing on several other drives? Burn some test disks
at 1X and fastest speed to lower tolerance and improve chances of
read errors. Rob
