I am suprised at this, I have read Hemptons book and seen the film that was=

recently released. He struck=C2=A0me as being genuinely concerned about=C2=
=A0the wild
things he records and wanted to further its protection. The motivation to
purchase both these URL's must come from somewhere else. We are all
doing=C2=A0important work, es-specially people like Bernie who have dedicat=
ed a
lifetime to not just recording but preservation and awareness. Cant=C2=A0he=
 see that
by buying up these URL's and not putting them to use is actually preventing=
 or
slowing down the awareness that needs to come into peoples lives,=C2=A0this=
 is=C2=A0not a
competition. Very unethical.

Bernie Krause is instrumental in introducing to many people along with Murr=
ay
Schafer the term "Soundscape"
The term "soundscape" has been used by a variety of disciplines to describe=
 the
relationship between a landscape and the composition of its sound. This Fri=
day
at 12:00 noon on Science Friday, Bernie will be talking about the field wor=
k and
Soundscape ecology.

Two weeks ago Bernie was heard on the radio talking about Soundscape ecolog=
y and
the need to preserve our fragile ecosystems for the future. Bernie and his =
wife
had pencilled in their diary to create websites with the
www.soundscapeecology.com and .org extensions only to find that within 5 mi=
nutes
of the show Gordon Hempton had bought them all up. How very sad!!
