Hi Raimund,
all the features available in our sound analysis packages (the
commercial version, the most advanced research version dedicated to our own
work, and the freeware version) come from a long development path dating
back to 1980 with the development of computer software for spectrogram
generation (initially on a Tektronix desktop computer, then on a HP 1000,
then on a Sinclair QL, then on the first 8086 PCs available in 1986, then i=
n
1989 by using boards with DSP I entered in the world of real-time analysis
of ultrasounds, later in 1995 I started working on windows to develop the
very first versions of SeaPro that were made available in 1997 with support
. In 1980 the generation of 1 second long spectrogram required 20 minutes,
now it takes 10ms....).
The use of advanced digital analysis hardware and software is well
documented by many papers (see below) published since 1983 and presented in
detail in conference presentations, some of which were attended by you. The
real-time shifting features we use since 2009 during naval surveys to
aurally detect dolphins comes form software developed many years before for
just post-processing ultrasonic recordings (see paper published in 2001).
So I could say that you may have learned from my work while developing your
software.... but I was always so kind not to tell in a public list.
Here some references (I'm sorry the very first papers are in italian...):
