As a user of ME66/K6 and ME67/K6 microphones, I beg to differ with the
following incorrect comment:

I do agree the ME/K6 is the ideal microphone for field use however the ME66=
microphone with the K6 power module, or any ME series with the K6 power
module does not require Phantom power, the K6 power module has an internal=
battery...
The ME/K6 series microphones are a real boon for the wildlife recording
specialist as it preserves operating battery life of recorders in the field=
by reducing the power drained from the recorders batteries by eliminating
the need for Phantom power from the recorder or mixer... And a ME/K6 will=
operate 150-200 hrs on a single Alkaline AA cell. On average I get more
than six months use in the field with the K6 internal battery which makes
battery costs for both microphone and recorder for field operating at least=
3 times less than when using phantom power from the recorder. Case in
point, my Marantz PMD661 will only run 2 hours with Phantom power supplying=
the mics. With the Phantom power turned off, I get more than 6 hours
recording time from the 4 AA batteries in the recorder... .
Now if a ME series microphone is used with the K6P (note the P suffix),
then the battery is eliminated and the microphone does require Phantom
power from the recorder...
As the owner/user of a number of ME/K6 series microphones, I always
purchase these mics with the K6 battery power module as there is no
difference in price, and the K6 power module will operate with either
Phantom power or the internal battery, you can use it either way...
