Don't let the high price of the best gear keep you from jumping into nature
recording. Some people can afford it, most can't. Besides, it wasn't that
long ago that people were lugging around reel-to-reel or cassette tape
recorders, and making good recordings. Check the FAQ, as Vicki said, but
you'll probably be pleasantly surprised by the recording quality of fairly
low-priced gear. As a hobby, it's really all about what you think about you=
r
recordings, not what others think. If you have 'perfectionist' tendencies,
then you may want to start saving money...but I have an old MD recorder,
Core Sound binaural mocs, an AT shotgun and a Zoom H2, and I'm very
satisfied with many of the recordings I've made.
