Hi June, I say that the Zoom H2 Recorder at $140 plus a set of $10 earphones is perfect for what you describe. That is what I use for the exact same purpose. I just tuck the zoom into my shirt pocket (with the foam windscreen over the top). The files are easily downloaded to my MAC for sharing or comparing.
