<<I was just referring to shielding the splice (mid-cable) on breakout cables. I'd like the actual split to be near the recorder end with just the single (stereo) cable from mic to splice, similar to one of Mike Wall's here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/naturerecordists/photos/album/1787922537/pic/= 1667732643/view?picmode=3D&mode=3Dtn&order=3Dordinal&start=3D1&count=3D20&d= ir=3Dasc >> Personally I feel a better way to build that breakout is to run both cables into the 5 pin XLR connector rather than to have a splice in the middle of the cable. Neutrik boots can accommodate 2 cables if they're not too thick. I use Mogami cable for this & it fits nicely. Plus it's a much easier project to build. I don't feel a splice mid- cable is a good idea electrically nor mechanically. Scott Fraser |
