Personally I feel a better way to build that breakout is to run both
cables into the 5 pin XLR connector rather than to have a splice in
the middle of the cable. Neutrik boots can accommodate 2 cables if
they're not too thick. I use Mogami cable for this & it fits nicely.
Plus it's a much easier project to build. I don't feel a splice mid-
cable is a good idea electrically nor mechanically.
