When in the UK working with Chris Watson last week, I tried a pair of
his DPA 4060 (hi sens) lav omni mics mounted on each shoulder. Earlier
in the week, I had tried to record wave action at the shore of the
North Sea with the regular LS-10 mics. Because of the 90 degree spread
between capsules, the phase cancellation at the high end of the
spectrum was quite noticeable. However, with the shoulder-to-shoulder
spread of the DPAs, that all disappeared, the low end of the wave
action was present, and the discrimination, detail, and depth was
pretty impressive. So much so that I've just bought a pair.
