Most noise reduction software was developed for voice and music and is grea=
t for removing something constant like air conditioning noise. In those cir=
cumstance it often works well, some times its amazing. If the background no=
ise is variable, they can't help much
A few tips on noise reduction:
First take several samples at several locations within the file and try eac=
h one before you decide which one work best.
After you select your sample, use it gently in multiple passes. Most softwa=
re allow you to adjust how much reduction you can apply. Instead of applyin=
g it once at say 70%, use multiple passes of 10%. When the sounds starts to=
sound like you are applying a flanger step back to your previous version.
It's good practice to use equalization as well, but use equalization after =
you apply noise reduction. Applying equalization before noise reduction can=
result in a file that confuses the NR software.
Hope this helps.
