I would be inclined to use a 16v battery as the voltage drop would be
more observable that a 12v. I say this as I seem to remember the 7xx
series recorders need 10.5v minimum.
As for a connector you could buy three 4 pin xlrs . cut the SD psu wire
and place in a male and female 4 pin to rejoin. And a 4pin on the lead
acid ( I presume you have no need to move the recorder as lead acid
weighs a ton ) .
Otherwise remote audio make a simple np-1 adapter with the hirose
attachment. Just cut the hirose off and crimp on some battery connectors
( the terminal thingamebobs ? someone remind me of the name) Then sell
the np1 shoe to get most of your money back!
I would think the last option the best
