I nearly overlooked the 620 too, since it is reported to be noisy. That was=
 until I realised that you can get a modded version from Doug Oade. I don't=
 know the actual noise values for his modded version, but here is the page:

The "super" is the one for nature recordists.

I will soon be receiving a modded Fostex FR-2le, and a modded Marantz PMD 6=

do it so long as it is not too complicated to set up. No stock models to co=
mpare them too I'm afraid. The only other machine I have is the original mi=
crotrack, so I could compare that too if that helps. I can use AT 3032 mics=
 and hopefully DPA 4060 mics in tests. If this would be useful for the grou=
p, perhaps someone could give me simple (novice) instructions on how to set=
 up a test.
