Right... But going back to Stuart's post, perhaps what he meant was not 
so much *producing* hiss, as opposed to having induced noise - and the 
mention of Canare cable not doing it was possibly a reference to 
Canare's StarQuad cable.

Also, the use of phantom power in preference to batteries might result 
in a better signal-to-noise ratio (therefore less hiss) if the 
batteries are getting flat.

Just speculating. ;-)
